Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment

Most commonly, a Root Canal procedure is performed to release the pressure caused by an infection inside your tooth. It is usually completed in a few separate appointments, to give you the best possible outcome. The first appointment will focus on removing the infection and the nerve from within the tooth.

In most cases, patients will feel almost instant relief from the pain that the infected tooth has been causing them. A medication is placed inside of the tooth to prevent reinfection before the next appointment.

Root Canal Treatment

In order to finish the Root Canal Treatment, the canals inside of the tooth will need to be shaped and then filled with a special material to prevent the tooth from getting re-infected. A final filling will then be placed on top of the tooth.

For some cases, the dentist may recommend for you to have a stronger option (like a crown, inlay or onlay) placed to protect the tooth which has had a Root Canal Treatment. This is to ensure that this tooth has the best chance of staying functional in your mouth for as long as possible.
