The variations in the Placement of Over-Dentures determine factors like the total procedure cost and time involved. Over-Dentures are not suitable for every patient. Many factors should be considered to see if this is the right solution for your individual needs. For example the need for Bone Grafting, Extractions or other relevant procedures, depending on the complexity involved in the case, the proximity of the facial nerves and the amount of readily-available bone support in the area.
Our dentist will require you to have a specialised CBCT scan (‘CT Scan’) prior to placing any Implants in your mouth. The CT scan shows the exact amount of bone support available in the mouth, as well as the location of the sinus and the facial nerves. These are all things that need to be deliberated when planning an Over-Denture, to minimise the risk of complications.
We encourage patients to ask one of our dentists all questions that they may have. All patients who undergo surgical procedures will be given instructions on how to care for the area at home and any precautions which should be strictly obeyed will be clearly explained.
