Fissure Sealants

Fissure Sealants

Deep grooves called fissures occur naturally in both adult and baby teeth. These grooves can trap food particles, bacteria and plaque that can often be extremely difficult to brush away.

We recommend a process called fissure sealants to prevent possible decay.
Fissure sealants are a layer of special protective material placed over the top of grooves to seal off these grooves and prevent anything from getting stuck in them. Applying the sealant material is a quick and easy process, with no discomfort. They are most commonly applied to children as the adult ‘chewing’ teeth (premolars and molars) erupt into the mouth.
